NJ Taylor is intent on increasing her pop army. With the release of her acoustic EP, the Montreal singer-songwriter is doing everything possible to ensure that happens.
Her latest single “Pop Army” has racked up 35,000 views on YouTube, placed in numerous songwriting competitions, and received airplay all over the U.K. The single charted on UK’s Music Week’s Commercial Pop Club Chart. The passionate and driven artist is leading her own charge in Canada and the U.K.
“NJ’s infectious, energetic dance tracks are fun, fresh, and addicting, so watch out for this soon to be pop queen.”– Brendon Veevers, Renowned for Sound
Other songs on the EP range from the hopeful “Right Here”, which reflects on war, natural disasters and poverty but lets anyone in these situations know they are not alone; and the anti-bullying message “Little Girl”, inspired by NJ’s own difficult years in her youth, proving it will all be okay.
The Acoustic EP was made with the help of her initial army recruits: Los Angeles-based co-writer Adien Lewis, co-producer Ghislain “Gee” Brind’Amour (Rihanna, Karl Wolf, Victoria Duffield) who also mixed and recorded the EP, and mastered by Gene Grimaldi (Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Carly Rae Jepsen, Nicki Minaj).
Originally inspired by Justin Bieber releasing an acoustic version of his Believe album, NJ wanted to share another side of herself and these songs. “Having acoustic versions gives a new life and a new meaning to the songs,” she explains, if someone isn’t into Pop/RnB commercial music, then they may be drawn to the acoustic versions. Canada is also a very difficult market for Pop music and now having acoustic versions allows me to play at more venues and opens me to many more opportunities.”
Montreal pop artist NJ Taylor made the semi-finals of several songwriting contests and now her debut EP is nominated for the IMEA Awards (International Music and Entertainment Association) in 3 categories: Pop Artist of the Year, Pop Album of the Year and Pop Song of the Year for “Pop Army.” “Pop Army” is currently nominated for a Hollywood Music in Media Award. NJ recently signed her fist sync licenses with major networks including MTV, E! Entertainment Networks, Oxygen Networks, A&E Networks, and Discovery Networks/TLC!
